Why did the customer contact us?
The customer needed crawl space repairs.
Solutions provided:
Crawl space with large trench excavated for previous water supply line replacement. An older wood rot issue due to a plumbing leak at rear of space in small area. Apply 2 inches of closed cell foam to exterior perimeter rim joist to stop airflow and provide R13 insulation. Install Crawlshield reinforced liner on entire floor, wrap all columns and tape all seams. Utilize existing liner and integrate with Crawlshield liner. Install Borafoam termite resistant foam board on exterior walls up to sill plate. Clean any debris and insulation out of space. Remove two abandoned water heaters and dispose. Apply BoraCare to areas affected by original water leak. Seal all crawl space vents.
Install passive return in joist where crawl space meets basement. Install inducer to partially condition space per building code.
Bring fill dirt into crawl space, compact as required and backfill to level of existing soil. Customer will hire LPE to inspect and make recommendation but right now a back fill and compaction of soil is the remediation steps needed.
Wheelbarrows will be employed through rear yard. Customer understands some damage will occur to rear yard and they will cover with wood chips.
Alternate solution: Excavate excess soil in crawl space and deposit into trench. Existing soil may not be enough to fill trench to proper level. Additional fill may be needed.
